Birdy Chou

Class of ’02

A native of Taiwan, Birdy began her violin studies at age 5 and moved to the US at age 16 to attend Idyllwild Arts Academy. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, and two Master degrees from Boston University, one in music performance and the other in arts administration. Upon graduation, Birdy moved to Beijing to explore new opportunities in the insurance industry, joining an international European firm full-time. Two years later she moved back to Taiwan and joined Google as an Optimizer. She currently holds the position of Account Strategist in the sales team at Google Hong Kong.
“IAA provided me with a valuable skill set to prepare for the future. Although my art has become an avocation, aspects of my musical training at IAA continue to guide me along the corporate path. As a musician, I trained to be hard-working, diligent, and responsible for my own decisions at a young age. IAA’s environment was perfect for me to focus on my studies, but also provided a diversified setting so I could appreciate other cultures and backgrounds. My viewpoint is multidimensional, enabling me to tackle new challenges from several angles. I owe a lot of what I have to Idyllwild.”
