I felt very in control of my own experience with the film department. I remember realizing if I was willing to work hard and had an idea I stood behind, everyone was willing to go to great lengths to help make it happen.
The Film department is truly unique. It really taught me to collaborate and also to lead, which has been consistently beneficial to me as a director.
I am so grateful I had Idyllwild to try every aspect of filmmaking I was interested in, so when I got to the real world and college, I already knew my strengths and weaknesses, and what I wanted to pursue.
Laura Holliday is currently studying directing and screenwriting at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. She is a graduate of the Second City, Hollywood’s conservatory for improv and comedic writing. Laura has had films consistently in the National Film Festival for Talented Youth and other festivals across the US. Presently, Laura is directing a variety of comedic shorts, and works at the commercial production company, PRMRY, in Los Angeles.
